LAYING BARE 2012 award wining poem

LAYING BARE
Life is a course of hiding
Disguising ourselves behind painted faces
Masking the truth
Veiling our face with hoodies
Hiding, hiding
Camouflaging
Concealing
Hiding away
Obscuring
Their faces
How do we know what you are like under all that covering?
Are you a complicated being?
Unsure of yourself
Complicated
Complex
Difficulty in revealing the real self
In this life of obscuring ourselves
Is there any element that needs revealing?
Our true selves
Possibly
How much would you reveal?
And lay bare?
Would you dare to?
Would life be more challenging without the veils?
Nothing ventured, nothing gained
Venture into the unknown self
Gain a life of purity and love
Challenging
Those masks
Defying those masks
Revealing the true and real person
Baring all
Facing all
Defying all
Are you brave enough?
To bare the real you

THE SCENT SO SWEET (award wining poem)

THE SCENT SO SWEET
The sweet scent of the
Petals so soft
The beauties of all the flowers
More so when the showers
Rain down and endow
The sweetest scent of the rose
And its powers

The petals so soft
Flying aloft
With the gentlest breeze
Spreading its fragrances
Way beyond the trees
A love that was once
You and I
So tender and soft
Gone but never
Forgotten

The sweetest scent
So very in this present
Moment
Lest I forget that
You were my heaven
Sent
A love that will remain
Forever in my hearts
Domain
There is no fear
For lives endless cheers
Nor pain or sorrow
For all of my
Tomorrows

The sweetest of scents
Until we meet again
My sweetest scents of life
Life will go on
Once again

FOLLOWING YOU (award wining 1st Nations poem)

FOLLOWING YOU
I see and watch you
Through my tears
A lonely figure
Travelling along
This lonely, lonely
Ancient land
You look so sad
Every moment I am by your side
You cannot see me
Hear me
But I hear you
Calling my name
In your hours of loneliness
You are never alone
My sweet, sweet love
Can you not hear my voice?
I miss you too
It was a sad day when I left
You oh so, so
Suddenly
I am near to you
Hugging you
To keep the cold out
That you feel constantly
Wrapping you up so tight
And tenderly
The campfire is lit
Keeping the darkness at bay
Your faithful bay horse
Not far from your side
Sensing
Feeling
His ears pricked up as if he knows
That I am near by
My sweet
My love
My friend
Look behind you
He knows
I just wish that you could
See, feel, sense
I will always be your side
Day by day
Night by night
Every moment
Through this journey
Of yours till the end
Of your days
We were inseparable in my
Lifetime
 We are inseparable now
My love
There will always be a light
Behind your back
Shining
Warming
Look it is a light
To let you know
I am close by
A never goodbye
Eternally by your side

QUIET SPACE

QUIET SPACE
This quiet space
Is the place where I can sit
And feel
This quiet space
So private
Yet so welcoming
The wide open space
Vast as the planet in the distant
With the aura so bright
That fills the sky
Stars
Glistening
Twinkling
Casting a magnificent hue
Beautiful
A meteor
Shoots through the sky
Silently
Quietly
As if it knows this is
My quiet space
Beautiful wonder of the universe
This quiet space
So calm
So peaceful
Feeling of being as one
With myself
Happier
Healthier
Brighter
Contented
My mind so free
Of the days breeze
Grounded
Astounded
Amazed
By the beauty
Of my solitary quiet space

This quiet space
The gentle breeze
Airing
Freshening
This face of mine
Bringing a glow
From long time ago
Airing my mind
Swishing and swirling my tresses
With a glow
This quiet space
Can never be erased
Fazed
Defaced

This very, very quiet space

An escape from the
Realities of life
Once in awhile

IT'S A HEART SET FREE

IT’S A HEART SET FREE
Carefree as can be
A floating sensation
As light as a feather
Like a breeze floating by
It’s free, free
Willowy, wispy
Letting the worries be carefree
Breaking the chains and oh those bains
The stars a glistening oh listen
To that heartbeat, beating happily
Arms out wide, not side by side
Fly, fly free spirit

PORTRAIT

PORTRAIT
Each and every portrait
That we see
Unique
Different
In style
Panache
Elegance and grace
The artist
Unique with his or her own style
Perceiving
Distinguishing
And individual model
With a distinctive
Difference
Maybe peculiar
Strange
Weird
And an oddity
To the naked eye
To an un-professional eye
But there is a magic
An air of mystery
Vibrancy
Energy
Liveliness
Maybe an air of exuberance
Vitality
Vibrant colorings
Powerful red
Blacks
And blues
The artist
His paint brushed as his makeup
Producing
Beauty
Ugliness
Whatever the mood that the artist is in
Whatever is inspiration takes him too
He is the artist of artists

CONSTANTLY SEARCHING

CONSTANTLY SEARCHING

Throughout our lives we are constantly
Searching for the unattainable
Probing deeper and deeper
Examining closer and closer
Investigating, researching
Is this right?
Is that wrong?
Will it be right?
Will it be wrong?
Exploring new ways
New ventures
New avenues
New gains
Rummaging
Through the deluge
Of advertisements
The must buy this
The must buy that
This is right for you
This is wrong for you
Endless
Relentless
Unyielding
Persistence
Barrage
Of looking and searching
Discarding
Abandoning
The useless
For the usefulness
Life is just life foraging for that needle in the hay stack
