WE DANCED IN THE SHADOWS

WE DANCED IN THE SHADOWS

The shadows of the darkest of nights

We wept, we cried

But we have not died

It is our affair

No one else’s

We call it our date night

Away from the maddening crowds

Away from the staring eyes

Whose eyes pry

Pry into our lives

We stay separate

We want to be left alone

Alone to dance the night away

Evocative, seductive

We want to stay in this smoky room

With just a glimmer of a light

We can keep each other in sight

This is no place for beginners

This is no place where there are endings

A place where there is a license to love

Endless, endless love

Across the room they look at us

But we have only eyes for each other

Dancing evocatively

They can walk on by

But we remain glued to the spot

Eye to eye

Tenderly, evocatively

We hold each other

Never wanting, never needing to let go

Never wanting or needing this date to end

Lovers and friends is what we are

But yet we do not see this in the room

They sit and stand afar from each other

Scowling, frowning at us

Jealousy?

We just don’t care

We have just one more hour

An hour!

An hour

We are going to make the best of it

Here and now!

And then away from these crowds

This crowded, crowded room

To be alone at home

Till then we’ll just have eyes for each other

And no other

THIS NARROW ROAD

THIS NARROW ROAD

This narrow, narrow road

That can take us here and there

Sometimes without a care

We can go forwards

We can go backwards

But never side by side

There is no room for you on this narrow road

There are no passing lanes for you to stop and let me by

Oh you may sigh

This wondrous, beautiful narrow road

That bends and stretches for miles and miles

What more can we ask?

The overhanging branches

The shaft of the sun rays

Shimmering, glistening

Quivering in the summer breeze

The leaves lapping up the summer rays

When all too soon they’ll pass us by with a blink of an eye

This narrow, narrow road

Where lovers meet

Where friends greet

Where ramblers find their seat

This narrow lane and its embankment

Lush, lush green grass

With all its shades of green

The sun just finding the sheaves of grass

For all the native insects to hide from humans

They watch, they look from their minute places

This narrow, narrow road

Is full of hopes and wishes

Wishes that will hopefully take place at the end of the journey

Oh this wondrous narrow lane

That can take you on a destination that was not planned

A surprise that fills you with happiness

Oh this narrow, narrow road

That is filled with keeping the faith

A faith that cannot be touched

Yet is within us all if we just take that leap

This narrow, narrow road

Is full of new beginnings

A world full of possibilities

It may be rough and tough at times

A journey of being, getting stronger

Oh this wondrous

Narrow, narrow road

Take a journey on it and see where it takes you!

You’ll just never, never know till you try

TRAMPING THE STREETS #4 Critically Acclaimed & Award Winning Poem Internationally

TRAMPING THE STREETS #4

Critically Acclaimed & Award Winning Poem Internationally

NEVER CRITICIZE MY LIFE

You do not know what it is like

Don’t criticize circle of friends and family

We are just like you

Humble, simple

We love, we hate

We loathe, we love

We get jealous, fractious

Yes fractious of your lives

TRUTH

So never judge us like you judge us

We are just like you

On word comes to mind

FAKE

We all live it, breathe it

Day in, day out

Night and day

Oh yeah

So how much can you take it?

You know our fake, fake lives

We shuffle through life

We carry the burdens through life

Never knowing where to turn

They turn over and over

Turmoil turmoiling

We have had broken hearts

That has torn us apart!

Has the same happened to you?

Through and through

Did you grow, grow through it?

Make you stronger for longer

It did us!

Do you see us criticize you?

Wear those hoodies

I love my hoody

It is comfy, cozy

It keeps me warm

Still criticizing?

Head bent, eyes hidden

Not mine!

I love people watching

Watching, never judging

Just watching you all

I have a giggle and a little snigger

Oh how I just sit and watch

My hands holding my face

I get stunned and shocked

At the things I see and hear

Too much for my ears at times

Yes I shut them off

And my eyes to

I never wrote a book on life

Too complicated

We come, we go

We love, we hate

We berate

I watch those people tramping the streets

To their own city beat

Do we judge?

Do we nudge?

Do we stare, do we ignore?

Or do we feel sorry, pity for them?

Or just walk past their past

Their lives, their heartaches

Oh boy oh boy

That is heartache, heartbreak

So guys and gals

Never, ever

Criticize any one’s life
