THE FLAME THAT BURNS
Taken from the anthology ‘Sunbursts and Flames’
© Teresa Joseph Franklin
Candle lit with a warmth and desire
Setting hearts afire
The heat of night
The heat of day
It burns eternal
Endless, ceaseless and timeless
A light in the dark when all seems so lost
A light in the dark to dance to
Writhing, twisting and turning
An invisible tune jingling and jangling
Heady, spicy and giddy
Scents from the candlelight
Lifting the spirits, feelings
Emotions, passions
To their highest peaks

#ASMSG LIGHT AS THE BUTTERFLY

LIGHT AS THE BUTTERFLY
Taken from the anthology ‘Water’
© Teresa Joseph Franklin
The air all around us
So light just like a butterfly
The gentleness, the calmness, the tenderness
Softly touching the leaves
The leaves dancing and singing
A quiet song in the breeze
The spring is here
Bringing much cheer
The winter is over
The waters are getting warmer
The rushing of the waterfall
From the mountains tops
Icicles and snow has melted
Bringing freshness, cleanliness and a newness
The buds are awakening from their winter hibernation
Wholesomeness to the once barren landscape
Green, lush and plush
The butterfly at the ready to feed on the spring’s store
The luxurious, the sumptuous
Flowers that await their splendour

ON A MISSION
A mission that needs movement
A mission to be fought with might
A fight to the end
Warriors bend
Every corner taken
Every corner travelling
Every corner never knowing
If the truth unbends
If the lies are well hidden
In the slippery bends
They must travel this road with its bends
Fighting the cause to the ends
Warriors
Fighters
Guardians
Fighting against the darkness
The gloom
And doom
They must travel
Near and far
Never wondering
Never questioning
Never pondering
Just go into the fight
With might
Power
With all the forces
Valor
Weapons at the ready
Warding off
the predators
From the darkness
Chasing them to the end
Out into the light
This they can depend
The raven
Bringing enlightenment
Truth and justice
The wolf
The warrior’s guardian
Protector
Ears pricked and pointed backwards
A warning
Snarling his teeth
As a warning
Come any closer to my prince
Of the light
I will defend
He can depend
So they travel around the bends
Ever alert
Watchful
Prepared
At the ready

#ASMSG THOUGHTFUL

THOUGHTFUL
Very thoughtful
This empty mind
This empty skeleton
Ever thoughtful
Ever so thoughtless
Empty thoughts
Full of thoughts
What are your thoughts?
Just have these thoughts
Thoughts
Spinning and spinning
Brimming over with them all
The mind agog
Jeeps a fog
Must clear them thoughts
Oh dear they’ve gone
Now what can ponder over and fill my mind with thoughts
Any thoughts anyone?
Cos I’m done

#ASMSG CROSSING THE BRIDGE

CROSSING THE BRIDGE
Taken from the anthology ‘Follow Your Dreams’
© Teresa Joseph Franklin

You’re neither there or here
Yet there is a fear
A fear of crossing over
You’ve shed the tears
Over the years
Why stop now?
Why stop the years?
You’re still crying, sighing
Stuck in the middle
One side calls you back
The other calling you on
But still you hesitate, vacillate
Shilly-shally
Dilly-dally
It’s pouring with rain
But still you remain
You’ve stumbled, fumbled
In and out
To and froing
Yet you are still not going
You’ve messed up
You’ve screwed up
So what!
Botched up
Slipped up
Oh why don’t you hurry up?
Oh shut up!
I’m in no hurry!
Let it rain, let it pour
I just do not give a dam anymore!
I’ll shuffle, scuffle and scrabble around
This ground is solid enough
So shut that up I have had enough!
It’s my life, my time
Not yours
If you give a dam or care
Then let me be isn’t that enough?
I make my own decisions time and time again
Not for you to gain!
For me and me alone
So leave me alone

#ASMSG WALKING IN HEAVENLY PEACE

FROM THE ANTHOLOGY ‘Angelic’
© Teresa Joseph Franklin

Walking in heavenly peace
Hand in hand
Through the sands
Across these lands
Hand in hand
One step forward
With a helping hand
Gently, softly together as one
The thrills and spills
The happiness and sadness
The tears, the fears
Hand in hand
Feathery light
Shining so bright
Like an Angel shining their light
Playing a tune of Peace, Love and Light
Letting us fly on Angel Wings

#ASMSG I SEE YOU, BUT CAN YOU SEE ME?

I See You, But Can You See Me?
From this eerie, eerie existence
That I survive only from subsistence
Sustenance
Maintenance
Are in plenty of supply
The boggy, soggy and squelchy
Suits me right down, deep down
It keeps me adorned, festooned
I glide deep down
I slide deep down
Deep in those depths is a beauty
That beautifies, mystifies.
Me completely
I can reach for the garlands
Garlanded, surrounded and festooned
Too
The peacock the show off
The master of getting to you
He’ll hide in a certain disguise
Sitting in wait
Then he sees you, but you have blinked
The he hides once more in his disguise
Does this ring a bell?
We adorn ourselves to hide away
Shy, bashful inside
Lacking the confidence
The self-esteem
Locking the real beauty
Way deep, deep in the depths
The murkiness
The madness
The confusion
Does anyone love us at all?
I guess it is only us that can figure that one out!
Once and for all!

#ASMSG AN AIR OF ELEGANCE

AN AIR OF ELEGANCE
Taken from the anthology ‘Heartfelt Baring All’ volume one
© Teresa Joseph Franklin
Mystery, mystified, mystique
Eyes adorned with
Make-up so blue
Ribbons and lace
Edged in full view
Shimmering Black
With Gold
Braided
Feathered
Framed
Enhancing
Entrancing
Enticing
Shimmering
Chiffon
So beautiful
Adorning
This vision in blue

#ASMSG MAJESTIC AND STRONG

MAJESTIC AND STRONG
 You stand so tall
So strong
So majestic
But there is a look in your eyes
Sadness
Not a note of happiness
There in the near distance
A passed loved one
Looking
Just as glum
Blue in his face
The night so gloomy
Flickering stars
An a eerie, eerie
Willowing
Quivering, shivering
Mystical
Feeling
The moon and the stars
Glistening
You stand listening
For their familiar voices
Their singing
Their laughing
Their howling
Calling voices
But there is nothing
Except for the hollow sound
One day you will be there
With your own kith and kin
But this day is not over
There is a new day ahead
With the ones that now live
Your pack
You’re the leader
Keeping them safe from harm
From this day on

#ASMSG THE RUSHING WAVES

THE RUSHING WAVES
The breaking waves that surround us
The ever changing tide
Rolling in and out
Ebbing and flowing
From distant shores and lands
The beauty
The magnificent
This wonder of the this world
The sustenance
The nourishment
The food, the fuel of life
The sun setting in the distance
In this instance
I rest awhile on this quiet shore
All seems sure
And not so distance
The lingering warmth of the day
Gladdening
This heart and souls
Array today
Let this day be fine
And dandy
Let the stresses and strains
Be washed away
They cannot find me
See me
Right this moment in time
I feel safe, secure
But I watch I listen
My senses are honed
Refined, enhanced
I keep them sharp
A lesson from old
That had been told
I will lay here a while
And keep this moment
As freedom
My sovereignty
