KITTENS THEY GET EVERYWHERE (updated)

KITTENS THEY GET EVERYWHERE

You’re in my hair

Up my stairs

This is so unfair

You’re sitting on my favorite

Chair and then you stare

With a look that says

‘I dare you’

But I dare not for

You will win the fight

And give me such a

Fright

Kitten you get everywhere

Falling down those stairs

With that woeful stare

Meowing, crying because

You think no one cares

Kitty you are up the curtains

Watch out when they get

Back in

Oh kitty

What trouble you’re in

And that is a certainty

Kitty what is going to happen?

When you get older

Hopefully much wiser

No more antics

Causing the humans

The attack of the panics

Oh well let’s just wait and see

But I love you really

Just don’t like this

Sitting on my head

My bed

DUSTY OLD HAT. (REVISED AND REVISTED)

DUSTY OLD HAT

This is what it is like

The violin dusty and rusty

Is it time to play a new song?

Not the ones from long ago

The up to date

Are you ready and willing to take that chance?

And not take that long, long glance

You sit here before me

You sat here before me

We did nothing about it

Just meandered

With our silent thoughts and feelings

No screeching

No harmonious playing a wondrous song

But what now do you expect from me?

I cannot do the same ole thing

It has gone, done and dusted

But here we sit and look

Both violin and hat so decrepit

Do we dust the off

Clean them both off

Strike up the new chords

Melodious

Oh how I need the euphonious

Can you, could you mellow?

Like I have done so

Aged though we are

My dusty hat and violin

Are so tuneful

It’s an immeasurable love

Immersable love

A drowning love

There is no going backwards

This love will always go forwards

Can you be ready to dust off that hat?

Can you be ready to tweak your violin?

Both of mine are ready and willing

Are you all right with doing this

Cos I’m ready

Ready to swing

Ready to sing

Cos it’ll do for me

Are you ready to leave that town?

That ole swinging town

Where swingers are no longer swinging

The base so, so low

The piano has lost its tune

Cos it no longer suits my mode

The singer lost his voice

You and I have a choice

This fool is in love once again

A fool in love with you

Oh why can you not see it!

Oh boy dust off those blues

And come and join this happy band

Everything is here

For your lady love

A SOUND SO PURE (revisited and rewritten)

A SOUND SO PURE

So certain and sure

A life free of strife

A life that sings

No pulling at the strings

Free of everything

Its sounds so right

It sounds so bright

My heart all a flutter

The petals all in a flurry

Never in a hurry

My heart rhythmic

Full of music

Softly swaying

Playing

The rhythm and rhyme

So sublime

That’s yours and mine

I hear your tune so gently

So softly

There amongst the orchestra playing

You are sat alone, but not alone

Your harp of many strings

A harp sharpened, tuned and honed

The orchestra members begin their gazing

The room so hazy, hazy, hazy

They stare, they glare!

But I never care!

We know the symphony

We need no sympathy

Harper, Harper the orchestras Harpist

Your strings so honed for the next entrance

Harper, Harper, we await your mesmerizing sweet tones

Your mesmerized face tuned and toned

You look my way, oh that special way

That says

“Hey my love”

“There is nothing to fear”

“Never shed a tear”

“I am here”

“Follow the notes, both high and low”

“My precious violinist”

I’m at the ready, yet not steady

Orchestral leader, baton in his hand

Poised and at the ready

He looks at us all

He smiles

His smile always has us reassured

He looks my way

I feel the swaying once again

His whispering voice

Oh now I have no choice

The time is the here and now!

I take a gentle bow

Towards the waiting audience

All I see are mesmerized faces

Waiting, waiting

In anticipation

Oh Harper, Harper

Time to face my fears

No tears

My first ever solo performance

Oh Harper, Oh Harper

Could this be forever after?

You strike your chords

My cue, my cue

Especially for you

All for you

Oh this is surely going to be

A Sound So Pure
