CROSSING THE BRIDGE
Taken from the anthology
‘Follow Your Dreams’
© Teresa Joseph Franklin
You’re
neither there or here
Yet
there is a fear
A
fear of crossing over
You’ve
shed the tears
Over
the years
Why
stop now?
Why
stop the years?
You’re
still crying, sighing
Stuck
in the middle
One
side calls you back
The
other calling you on
But
still you hesitate, vacillate
Shilly-shally
Dilly-dally
It’s
pouring with rain
But
still you remain
You’ve
stumbled, fumbled
In
and out
To
and froing
Yet
you are still not going
You’ve
messed up
You’ve
screwed up
So
what!
Botched
up
Slipped
up
Oh
why don’t you hurry up?
Oh
shut up!
I’m
in no hurry!
Let
it rain, let it pour
I
just do not give a dam anymore!
I’ll
shuffle, scuffle and scrabble around
This
ground is solid enough
So
shut that up I have had enough!
It’s
my life, my time
Not
yours
If
you give a dam or care
Then
let me be isn’t that enough?
I
make my own decisions time and time again
Not
for you to gain!
For
me and me alone
So
leave me alone
