AS A CHILD

As a child

Growing up in a big

Vast family

There things that

We must learn

Be taught

Our respect

For others

Elders

Family

Friends

The ways of old

Retold

By family

And friends

Traditions

Learning how to make

Bows and arrows

Sharpening tools

A lot to learn

As a child

But there is always

Play times

With friends

Elder children

Younger children

Which at times we keep an eye on

So the they don’t stray

Away from the campsite

We are taught very young

Our responsibilities

Of looking after the young

Helping where needed

And when needed

It may seem tough

And hard

But I am happy

Not sad

I love my family

All the time
