DANCE TO THE MOON AND BACK (New Poem)

DANCE TO THE MOON AND BACK
If you’d only could see
The luster, the shine
Is not always mine
Its glorious glint
Where there is not a hint
Glamour and glitz
The showiness
The stylishness
The show business
The dancing and prancing
Is all for nothing
I kept telling myself
“The show must go on”
When I just didn’t want it to go on
I needed, wanted it all to stop
Jump off this merry-go-round
And come to firmer ground
Take a final curtain call
And say goodbye to it all
It has served its purpose, purposes
Those purposes no longer wanted or needed
I’ve heeded my inner gut feeling, feelings
And know it must be a graceful bowing out
The pain of surrender, surrendering is no longer
Here or there
I would’ve dance to the moon and back for you!
My partner in crime
But it is now time
That you find your own path
The path to enlightenment
And I know you’ll find it!
It’s out there among the throngs
Away from the limelight
The bright lights of the stage and screen
It’ll be painful
Sorrowful
But and yet your path leads elsewhere
Whether it is
North
South
East or West
You’ll know what is best
But heed this one piece of advice
Listen, watch
And now I am bowing out gracefully
