WE DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE THIS PLACE (New Poem)

WE DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE THIS PLACE
All that concrete and clay everyday
Now there is no place here
For all that hustle and bustle
We do not want to leave this place
Life is at a slower pace
But we both know we need to go back
Where we do not lack
Penthouse apartment
Set in a compartment
Cold, cold
Tell me what is wrong with us
Where did it all go wrong?
That concrete and clay
Every day, every day
Tell me what is wrong with me?
Tell me what is on your mind?
We never talk, talk
We just sit and stare
Stare and stare at each other
The concrete and clay beneath our feet
The trudging to and froing from work
Too tired to do a thing
The doorbell rings
Wondering who is going to get the door
We look on the floor
The cat and dog fast asleep
Unaware without a care
What has happened? My childhood sweetheart?
We just do not want to leave this place!
We left that fast, fast pace
To this quiet heavenly place
Just the noise of the sea ebbing and flowing
The seagulls overhead
The silence, the silence
This silence is deafening
We cannot just stare
We cannot just glare
What has happened to all our hopes and dreams?
Have we a hope?
Have we the will?
The will to start afresh, anew
Without staying here!
I need to know your answers
Before the day passes
I cannot go on, and on
Just pretending, being unhappy
I need, want to go home, our home
The one we built together
Our forever
Please stop staring into the distance
The answers are not all there
They are here right here in front of you
Beside you
Leaning into you
Where I want to stay forever
I love you, adore you
There is no mistaking my feelings
We do not want to leave this place
But we must tomorrow
Our time is up in the wonderful place
