THE LIGHT AND THE DARK

There is a light and dark side

To all of us

A light that shines outwards

Externally

So obvious so clear

So bright so apparent

So noticeable

Unmistakably unique

It is the light that we show to others

Our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters

And friends

Behind all the light

There is a darkness that cannot be seen

The one that can mean

All is not ok

The feeling of despair

Nobody cares

We hide in the shadows

The gloom and the doom

Here in a darkened room

Feeling the blackness

Reflecting

Dejected disheartened

Depressed disappointed

With life and things

A disenchanted

Disillusioned world

Seemingly black

Like a fog that won’t budge or dislodge

Remove it from

Mind, body and spirit

And this soul

There is a part that needs to reconcile

Settle, reunite, resolve, or merge

With the light and the dark

A balance is needed required

Equilibrium poise, stability, reconciling

The light and the dark

As one

With oneself
