DO NOT BE AFRAID

DO NOT BE AFRAID
Come little one
You will come to no harm
Here with me
Come little one
My hand is free
See
Nothing here
So please have no fear
Treading so softly
Gently
Lightly
Gradually
Coming near to me
I will kneel here
Quietly
Silently
With my palm towards you
Showing you there is nothing
Except for a love
That is true
Quietly
Peacefully
Softly
It may look grey
So grey
In this place of yours
Cold, cold too
Misty, murky
Baron too
But here you stand
Watching carefully
Alert
Cautious
Guarded
Nervous
Not knowing what to do
Ears pricked
Alert
To every sound
I cannot blame you
I would be too
If I was you
Sniffing the air
Aware of all the smells
That linger
Far beyond your senses
Sniffing me out
What a funny noise you make
There is no mistake
This is your ground
I am the newbie
Just walking around
Using my own senses
Listening
Watching
Sniffing too
This air is clammy
Damp
And forgotten
Almost forlorn
But here we are
The two of us
Just staring each other out
Who’s going to make the first move?
I so hope that you do
