LEAVE THE GHOSTS BEHIND BE
THE WARRIOR YOU WERE BORN TO BE
Taken from the Anthology
‘Warrior Women’
© Teresa Joseph Franklin
There
lurking in the deepest, darkest shadows
Are
your nightmares, skeletons
Shrouded
in the darkest of clothing
The
lurk, prowl, skulk
Like
vultures waiting to pick at the skeleton
Picking,
nipping bit by bit
Until
there is nothing left to pick
You
are vulnerable, weak, and susceptible
Defenceless,
helpless
Exposed
to the elements of the darkness
The
sky blackest of blackest
The
mist eerily surrounding the vultures, the ghost of past
Seeking,
watching your every movement
Every
moment
But
you have one defence an incredible light
Glimmering
shimmering
Blue
mist smoke lifting rising upwards
All
around you like a protection
A
warrior fighting the ghosts from the past
Letting
the light shine a path upwards, downwards
Side
to side
Evoking
a sense of security from the darkness
